Suitable for the 795 and 795 Aerolight frames, the E-Post 2 seatpost is fully isolated from mini-impacts and vibrations by 3 elastomer blocks. Two of them are placed inside and secure the seatpost inside the frame. They can be expanded by tensioning the adjustment bolt with only a quater-turn.
This solution is much more durable for carbon than a conventional collar requiring higher tightening torques. The third elastomer block is placed between the frame and the post. This elastomer is inserted 40mm inside the seat tube and forms a 9mm thick pad outside.
Elastomer blocks absorb the vibrations through a slight inflection of the seatpost backwards, thus greatly improving cyclist comfort. The most flexible elastomer (grey) provides the same deformation ratio as a conventional LOOK Ergopost 4 seatpost at maximum height. High deformation = maximum comfort. The use of three elastomer grades of different densities make it possible to adjust the vibration transmission. The firmest elastomer: the black colour grade provides the same deflection as the 2007 Road E-Post, with only one 3-mm elastomer to filter the vibrations. The two other elastomer units (grey or red) provide greater vibration dampening.
The seatpost is an abutment against the frame and secured, eliminating any possibility of slippage. As the E-Post 2 and integrated seat tube sections are not round, the saddle remains fully aligned at all times.
All E-Post 2 comes with a bracket for a Shimano Di2 internal battery. This part is located under the E-Post 2 and makes it possible to clip your battery very easily. A rubber washer is also supplied to hold the bottom of the battery and prevent it moving laterally, which could create unpleasant noise. These 2 parts are also available independently for cyclists who already have an E-Post 2. The seatpost can be adjusted backwards over a 30mm distance, i.e. - 5 to - 45mm from the seat tube centre line. This is not a reversible E-Post. Adjustment is easy with only one easily accessible Titanium bolt.
The new E-Post 2 was designed to maintain the same benefits as the previous version while optimising three parameters: aerodynamics, lightness, ease of handling
Naca aerodynamics section In order to improve the general aerodynamics of the 795, the E-Post 2 adapts to the saddle of the latter (it is only compatible with that frame currently) of which it adopts the shape.
Carriage for monolink rails or standard rails from 7 to 10 mm The monolink design replaces the 2 traditional rails with a single carbon central rail. This solution is ergonomic as it allows shortening the width of the saddle between the legs, eliminating any unwanted rubbing and making pedalling more comfortable.
However, for those who prefer a 2 rail saddle, a specific adapted carriage to the standard rails is supplied with the seat post. This carriage is compatible with round rails of 7 mm and oval rails in carbon up to 10 mm.
Ultra fast installation Its handling is greatly facilitated and much faster: the tightening bolt (4 mm Allen) on the right side of the stem is accessible with any multi tool. Half a turn tightens and untightens it and the recommended tightening couple is only 4Nm. A new LOOK deposited tightening concept with Dyneema cord resisting to several tons in traction designed to demultiply the tightening strength and reduce the number of necessary turns.
30% lighter than the previous version Optimised design, cord design in ultra resistant Dyneema and a new geometry of internal elastomers enabled us to loose weight. The E-post 2 only weighs 139 gr.
Filtering of the vibrations The seat post is completely isolated from the frame by 4 elastomers that filter mini shocks and vibrations for optimal comfort. Three of them are on the inside and keep the saddle in place in the frame. They expand under the action of a screw with a maximum tightening couple of 5 Nm.
That solution is much more performing in terms of durability for carbon than a traditional collar that needs to be tightened to 20 Nm. The fourth elastomer is placed between the frame and the stem at 40 mm high on the inside and forms a buffer of 9 mm thick on the outside.
Anti rotation and anti sliding The seat post is stopped onto the frame, it absolutely cannot slide and as the E-Post 2 and the tube are not round, it is systematically in line.
Internal battery compatibility Di2 A part in carbon moulded with the bottom of the saddle stem ensures the stability of the internal Shimano battery.
A rubber washer is also supplied to secure the bottom of the battery and prevent the risks of lateral movements of the latter and avoid unpleasant noises.
