The Val de Vie MTB Expedition constitutes an exceptionally well crafted new 172km, 3-day stage race in Paarl on a cloverleaf route that incorporates some of the country’s finest mountain bike trails, coupled with a world-class race village at the Pearl Valley Clubhouse which serves all 3 days.

If you mention Welvanpas and Banhoek, you immediately grab the attention of informed mountain-bikers throughout South Africa. If you include these two famous trail networks in a 3-stage race based at an exceptional venue, it adds up to an experience that has been crafted to satisfy the most demanding mountain-biker.

Entries are filling up fast, especially with Absa Cape Epic riders who have the opportunity of getting their final bulk training weekend done in the Expedition. The event takes place 3 weeks prior to the Epic, which also finishes at Val de Vie Estate.

The two signature stage distances (75km and 77km) and their degree of difficulty are perfectly poised to fulfil the final mileage demands of Epic riders’ training regimes.

All three stages start and finish at the Pearl Valley Clubhouse inside Val de Vie Estate.

Team riders who enter the full package pay R7800 per rider and single riders R9000 per rider. Full package riders stay over at the luxurious Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis, and the full package includes all meals at Reubens and the Valley Restaurant. The basic entry, which excludes accommodation and meals, is an affordable R2800 per rider.

Stage 2 | 75km. Trail inclusions: Val de Vie Estate | Hawequas | Welvanpas | Beulha | Drakenstein Mountains | 1650m ascent
Stage 3 | 77km. Trail inclusions: Val de Vie Estate| Helshoogte| Banhoek | Boschendal | Plasir de Merle | Idas Valley Dam | Skyfall | Camissa | Klipwerf | Afterburner | Inferno | Sugarbowl | new Plaisir descent | ascent 1800m 

ENTRY OPTIONS

2-RIDER TEAM ENTRIES:

1. Entry including 2 nights twin room sharing accommodation at the luxurious Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis (at the race village) and all meals: R15 600 per team. Bicycle Garage clients pay R11 700 per team.
2. Race entry only, excluding accommodation and meals: R5 600 per team. Bicycle Garage clients pay R4 200 per team.

SINGLE RIDER ENTRIES:

1. Entry including non-sharing accommodation at the luxurious Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis (at the race village) and all meals – R9000 per rider (non-sharing hotel room occupancy with all meals). Bicycle Garage clients pay R6 750 per rider
2. Race Entry Only, excluding meals and accommodation – R2800 per rider.
