The SS.laalaLaiJersey_evo7 Lady Jersey represents two important firsts for Assos' women's line: it's the first time the brand's stylized block patter and the new type.002 fabric have been used for women's kit. And while it's nice to see the black-on-white blocks jump the gender divide, the type.002 material constituting most of the jersey's body is the real star of the show.
Assos' new SS.campionissimo jersey also features type.002, but it does so with an integrated skinFoil base layer. Don't get us wrong, we like the wicking and soft, supportive comfort of the skinFoil design, but we're also glad that the SS.laalaLaiJersey lets us choose to wear it with or without a base layer. That's because the type.002 material blends an on-trend matte, snag-proof finish with a touch so soft that you have to feel it to believe it. It's also stretchy and compressive in all the right ways, maintaining supportive pressure against your body but still yield enough to accommodate the jersey's racing fit.
If it seems like we can't say enough good things about type.002, that's because, well, we can't. Assos doesn't make it carry the burden alone, though, as it's supported by panels of heavily ventilated type.220 mesh across the shoulders and back. While we wouldn't call type.002 heavy or stifling, the additional breathability and cooling of type.220 is definitely welcome on days that are so hot you don't even want to wear a base layer.
In addition to the aforementioned Assos blocks, the jersey is finished with a few more of the details that we associate with the brand. These include a logo zip pull and three rear pockets. The pockets are supported the hem by an elastic strip with silicone print, which helps to maintain the jersey's shape even when loaded down with a spare tube, CO2, and other ride supplies. Finally, we recommend a bit of sunscreen on the back and shoulders, as the type.220 material doesn't offer much protection on its own.
Technology
AEPD (Advanced Ergonomic Pattern Design)
Stand for the company's know-how, experience and philosophy on how a garment should be tailored to function in the cyclist's position. ASSOS garments are designed to perfectly fit and adhere to the body, in other words, to respect the anatomy of the cycling body. High-tech fabrics are pointless if cut "wrong"!
ALS (ASSOS Layering System)
Less is more. The entire ASSOS collection is conceptualized around this technology. ASSOS apparel is engineered with minimum volume, taking advantage of the body's natural heating/cooling capacities by insulating intelligently through pro-active layering. Both fabrics and garments have chain functions and are cut to complement each other. Everything fits like a puzzle; technically as well as aesthetically. It is up to each cyclist to follow the climate range guidelines and to experiment with the different ASSOS garments in order to find the perfect personal outfit for each specific riding season.
regularFit
A body mapped performance fit that is a little less aggressive than ASSOS' racingFit. The best of both worlds, wearability and speed converging. A balance between the more compressive racingFit and the looser comfortFit.
